Best-selling? Lil’ ol me?

Hey gang. Look who’s showing her face again?

Are you all familiar with Teddy Pig? If you’re not, you should be. Go on, go check him out. I’ll wait right here.

Oh hey, back so soon? Cool, cool.

So, the reason I mention him is that I noticed he has a link at the top of his site to Fictionwise best sellers. So, curious sort that I am, I scrolled on through, and what do you know? Fictionwise lists Back to Texas, my first book with Loose-Id, as a top 10 best seller. Who knew? I certainly didn’t, but I’m not complaining.

Just makes me hope that the other books eventually show up on Fictionwise and that they do as well. I could get used to this best selling thing.

In other news, yes, Wild Frontier is out and it has an effing GORGEOUS cover. They never disappoint over there. If you haven’t read it yet, well heck, what are you waiting for? If you have, let me know what you think! Public or private, it’s all good. I had a lot of fun with this one, and I think you’ll enjoy it.

Long time no post!

I know, I know. I’m bad about updating things, particularly when I don’t have all that much to say.

But now I do.

The word is that the tentative release date for my next book is: *drumroll* March 25th. Wild Frontier is a western paranormal menage. Still working on knocking a few kinks out of it, but it ought to be fun.

So. March 25th. Loose Id. Keep an eye out for it.

To Touch the Stars! And Back to Texas!

To Touch the Stars released yesterday. This is my first book with Liquid Silver Books, and the first futuristic I’ve done with them so far. There may be more. I hope there are more. 🙂

ETD: You can go here to get the book, so go forth, click, purchase and enjoy!I’ve also got the cover for my next release, in early April, I think, from Loose Id. This one’s called Back to Texas, and it’s an erotic interracial menage. Going for the niche among the niche.

And the cover, for the curious, looks like this:

Conferencing

The authors over at Manloveromance are talking about putting together a conference geared toward our speciality, manlove. Writing, reading, talking about the genre, connecting with the community. It’ll be a huge amount of work but I think it’ll also be a huge amount of fun.

And to be honest, I’ve missed being actively involved in a conference. I was a part of a small one a few years back. Politics and personal agendas made me leave that arena, but with the right group of people, a small, intimate conference can be a lot of fun, very energy recharging and a valuable experience.

We’re still at the figuring out when/where/how stage, so I won’t say too much more about it, except to express my enthusiasm for the whole idea.

I also spent some time last night talking with Shayla Kersten and Kayelle Allen about a new anthology we’re going to propose to Liquid Silver Books. I am -so- excited about the stories we talked about. We pretty much developed a series idea that I think will sell well and be very well-talked-about. I’m hoping so, at any rate. I can’t wait to get started.

Of course there are other things that need to be finished first. I have a project at Ellora’s Cave giving me fits. I have more ideas crowding my head than I have room to manage.

I will learn to cope. 🙂

To Touch the Stars – Coming March 19th

To Touch the Stars - Anne Cain

I got my final cover and my release date for my Liquid Silver book. To Touch the Stars will arrive on March 19th. People are liking this story, so I hope it does well. I love my boys. They deserve success.

This is a M/M/M futuristic. Blurb as follows:

Generations ago, Edmund Talkirk led a group of colonists on an interstellar search for a new home. They were hoping for a second Earth.

They never found it. Now, the descendents of those first brave souls eke out a living on the surface of the world they call Shadow. They are led by their Talkirk, a scarred warrior once known as Cymren, who expects treachery and demands loyalty and obedience.

Lucan came from the underground darkness of the Warren, a part of Shadow thought long abandoned. He left everything and everyone he held dear in an attempt to avert a great wrong. His incredible promises and bold words challenge everything Talkirk knows. Yet there is something about him, wisdom far beyond his years and mystical power his frail body should not possess.

He came proclaiming his ability as Pureblood to save Talkirk and the Cairn, the walled city he protects. Whether he intends to save the man and master, or to betray both, is the question, and yet Talkirk can’t resist his allure. One way or the other, he’ll have the man and the power, regardless of who he has to battle to keep them.

Here Be Dragons – T.A. Chase

Here Be Dragons - T. A. Chase

I’ve just finished reading Here Be Dragons by T.A. Chase (you can click the cover to buy a copy of the book for yourself). This is a quick-paced urban fantasy that will make you take another look at familiar myths. Think you know the story of St. George and the Dragon or what Mordred from Arthurian legend was really like? Not the way T. A.’s re-envisioned them. Think dragons are merely misunderstood and all mythical creatures are warm and friendly? Think again.

I liked this book a lot. Kael and Hugh, the heroes of the story, are a perfect match for one another, both warm and very real and three-dimensional. They work well as echoes of this story’s George and Mordred. They work even better -with- them. Though I might have liked a little more detail about the final battle against the dragon, I know that action scenes are tough and what we get serves its purpose. There’s no question about the outcome of the fight.

I have to confess that George stole my attention, though. I look forward to reading more of T.A.’s work, but if there are more stories that focus on the big guy,  I might just have to put other reading aside for him.

Cheerfully recommended!

Visitors

Holy cow. I’ve seen a heck of a spike in visitors over the last couple of days. And yet none of you are lingering long enough to say hi. What’s up with that? 😉

I know, I know, it’s a quiet world over here. I’m still waiting on release dates and edits and trying to finish more projects, so I don’t have a ton to talk about. Still, I’m perfectly friendly, I only bite when welcomed and I … have cookies.  I share.

More seriously, welcome to those who are swinging by. Hope to see you come back again when I’ve got news and more stories to provide.

Manlove at RWA National

It’s confirmed. I will indeed be helping to present a workshop at RWA National this year in Dallas.

The workshop is titled Swimming Against the Stream: Alternative Genres in Erotic Romance and will touch on  M/M, menage and BDSM in erotic romance. I’m thrilled that we got accepted and I’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun.

I’m also nervous about presenting, but I’ll have some practice before we get there this year, so hopefully I won’t stutter too badly. If you’re there, come see us and say hi!

More releases coming.

It’s been a while since I had anything to say over here. I know that’s wrong-headed somehow. I need a theme or a series of topics to blog on. Maybe I should just be rambling. I manage that pretty well, usually. P’raps I should discuss how writing erotic romance differs from writing non-erotic, since I do a lot of both.

I’ll have to do some thinking and see what pops up.

I’m in the process of having my website redesigned. The look won’t change too severely, but it will hopefully work cross-browser, as it was causing troubles in everything except Internet Explorer for me, and more and more of the world is moving away from IE.

I’ve recently finished the edits on my next two books. Back to Texas is theoretically coming out late this spring at Loose-Id. To Touch the Stars will be out … sometime this spring as well, I think, from Liquid Silver. I’ve got another short story proposal in at Ellora’s Cave and a second longer series proposal for them. We’ll see if they sell.

Last but not least, I’ll be at RWA National. I may even be helping to present a workshop. How scary is that?

News news news

I have news to share!

I’ve made a couple of sales since my last update, which makes me extremely happy. Proof that I am not a one-hit wonder, doomed to languish with one novella to my name, is always nice to have.

First up, To Touch the Stars, which won third place in Liquid Silver’s Satisfy Our Naughtier Side contest earlier this year. The completed novella has been picked up for publication with the company. YAY! To Touch the Stars is a futuristic, M/M/M with a blind protag. Believe me when I say that *that* was a bear to write. I like my characters flawed, but completely sightless? What a challenge.

And then, Loose Id picked up Back To Texas, a M/F/M I/R novella. I’m excited about this one too. This is a contemporary, dealing with a woman who’s caught between an old flame and the partner she’s been working with for the last several years. Toss in some gun-running and it should be fun!

I also have reviews for Coyote Rain, my first book with Ellora’s Cave. They like me! They really like me!

Laura over at Fallen Angel Reviews gave me 4 Angels and says, “For such a short story Coyote Rain packs a punch! Full of action and heat, I enjoyed this story from the first page.”

And Susan, at Coffee Time Romance gives me 4 Cups and says, “What a sensational story! Ms. Black pens a tale of love and acceptance that really shines like a jewel among the ever-increasing treasure chest of same sex romance that is beginning to find its way into the hands of readers.”

I’m seriously, seriously thrilled. I’m on my way!
